Merger Duo NXP50: an invaluable pair of thermal imaging and night vision
In the world of modern hunting, combining thermal imaging and night vision in one device opens up entirely new possibilities. Many say that Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50 is one of the best examples of such an innovative approach.
As noticed by a hunter from Poland Krzysztof Turowski, in practice, this device not only enables precise game detection in various conditions but also facilitates the recording of unique footage in challenging field and weather situations.
Krzysztof Turowski often uses the Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50 during recordings for Darz Bór TV, one of the most popular television programs for hunters in Poland. His experiences prove that these multispectral binoculars are an invaluable tool for both hunters and filmmakers working in the field at night.
“The biggest advantage of the Pulsar Merger Duo is its ability to simultaneously offer two independent channels: thermal imaging and night vision. You can use them separately or together, with one channel as the main view and the other in picture-in-picture mode.” says Krzysztof.
An indispensable pair
Both thermal imaging and night vision systems of the Merger Duo have their unique characteristics and applications. But it’s the combination of the two that gives us an advantage which is hard to overestimate.
The thermal imager, with a sensor resolution of 640×480, a pixel size of 17 micrometers, and a NETD factor below 25 mK, allows for the detection of heat sources regardless of lighting conditions. This makes it ideal for locating game or other objects, even when hidden in dense forests or beyond the visible range, at distances of up to 1800 meters.
Night vision, on the other hand, based on a CMOS sensor with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1200, uses residual light to provide a clear view of the surroundings. An additional 940 nm infrared illuminator allows for detailed recognition of the terrain, even on moonless nights.
“During the recording of my shows for Darz Bór TV, where I often had to film in changing night conditions, the Merger Duo repeatedly proved indispensable. For example, during night hunts for wild boar, I also managed to capture beautiful silhouettes of deer,” notices Krzysztof.
According to him, night vision helped the hunter capture the details of the scene in a wide shot, while thermal imaging allowed him to immediately detect the presence of animals hidden in the darkness of the forest.
He adds that this was made possible by different magnification levels—3x to 24x in the thermal channel, and 2x to 16x in the night vision channel: “Thanks to this, I could adjust the shots and later convey not only the emotions but also the natural beauty of the moment in a quality that was previously unattainable with the standard video equipment I used.”
Comfort at its finest
The Pulsar Merger Duo also features a classic daytime binocular design, conveniently placed buttons in the access zone, and a fatigueless viewing experience with both eyes.
As Krzysztof explains, for him, as someone who not only hunts but also works in the field for many hours, user comfort is crucial.
“The Merger Duo fits perfectly in hand, and the intuitive interface allows for quick adjustment of settings, which is especially important in situations where reaction time is critical. Additionally, the comfort of using just one device during filming, instead of carrying a traditional camera, was incredible,” he states.
Additionally, this multispectral device is designed for long-term use in harsh conditions. The durable design of the device makes it resistant to changing weather conditions, shocks, and moisture. Krzysztof notes that the resilience of this equipment proved invaluable during a nighttime shoot on a stormy summer evening.
This device gives me confidence that nothing will escape my attention.

Its versatility and reliability make it invaluable equipment for both hunters and professional filmmakers.
Versatile and reliable
One of the most important features of the Merger Duo is its versatility. According to Krzysztof, this device performs well in a variety of terrain conditions, from dense forests to open fields.
“Its ability to operate in extreme weather conditions makes it an ideal tool for both hunters and filmmakers who need to work regardless of the time of day, season, or weather. Thermal imaging allowed me to continue working and hunting even when night vision lost its effectiveness due to sudden fog or rain. Later, when the fog cleared, night vision allowed me to capture the details of the surroundings,” says the hunter.
He notices that the ability to use thermal imaging and night vision simultaneously makes filming at different times of day and night much simpler and more precise: “This device gives me confidence that nothing will escape my attention. For example, when I was filming wild boars, night vision allowed me to capture the entire herd precisely, while thermal imaging helped to quickly identify the leading sow, enabling ethical hunting.”
The hunter adds that undoubtedly, the Pulsar Merger Duo is a revolutionary device that successfully combines the advantages of thermal imaging and night vision in one compact tool.
“Its versatility and reliability make it invaluable equipment for both hunters and professionals involved in video recording. In my work with Darz Bór TV, the Merger Duo not only enabled me to capture unique moments in challenging field conditions but also allowed me to have full control over the recording quality, which is crucial for me,” notices Krzystof.
The hunter finishes his remarks by stating that thanks to the Pulsar Merger Duo, every expedition becomes more efficient and satisfying.
This equipment is proof of how modern technology can simplify work and raise its effectiveness to an entirely new level.
