Thermion 2 LRF XL50: a game-changer in thermal world
Night Vision Viking, an independent thermal and hunting optics device reviewer, recently tried out the Thermion 2 LRF XL50. This HD thermal riflescope is well known for its HD sensor, high quality and informative image even on high zoom levels.
According to Night Vision Viking, who also shared his captured footage with our readers, Thermion 2 LRF XL50 may look like its other siblings in the Thermion 2 LRF line-up, but in reality, it has all the superpowers. “I’ve had the privilege of using various thermal rifle scopes and optics. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, but for about half a year, I had the opportunity to field test the Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XL50 that has it all,” – shares the hunter.
Key superpowers
The XL50’s HD thermal imaging sensor offers an exceptional resolution, with a Lynred-made 1024×768 @ 12 µm sensor. One of the standout features of the Thermion 2 LRF XL50 is its integrated laser rangefinder. This feature provides precise distance measurements up to 800 meters, enabling more accurate shot placements. „For a professional hunter, knowing the exact distance to your target is invaluable, and this scope delivers that critical information effortlessly unless it’s raining or very foggy,“ – says Night Vision Viking.
The Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XL50 always kept sharp and clear, allowing me to detect game even through dense foliage.

Field performance
Night Vision Viking went to a wildlife park to increase his chances of seeing wild animals such as mouflon, fallow, red deer, and moose. He used a thermal imaging sensor to detect the slightest heat signatures, making it easier to spot game in different environments.
The built-in video and photo recording capabilities let him capture and review his hunts in high-definition thermal imagery: “Already on the first night, I was quite lucky to capture this magnificent red deer on video. The performance is pretty nightastic!”
“If you haven’t used a laser rangefinder for your thermal, it’s time to begin. Estimating distances is hard enough with standard optics, and in the dark, nothing gets easier. These deer were close to me, but it was so dark that I couldn’t see them,” – he adds.
In my opinion, no other thermal rifle scope integrates all of the features so well.

The Thermion 2 LRF XL50 is waterproof, dustproof, and designed to operate in a wide range of temperatures.
Is it worth it? YES!
The Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XL50 is a game-changer for professional hunters, not only because of its HD thermal capability, but also because of its excellent ballistic software and integrated laser rangefinder. Night Vision Viking says, “Yes, it takes a while to set it up, but the reward is worth it. It’s hard not to appreciate any of the Pulsars in the Thermion series, and this XL50 is on top of the food chain.”
He adds that Pulsar is a reliable choice since the devices are manufactured in Europe, utilizing European thermal sensors made by Lynred in France. “There are similar products on the market, and I have tried and reviewed a few of them. In my opinion, no other thermal rifle scope integrates all of the features so well,” says the hunter.
